Taxpayers: overwhelmed tax centers

At the foot of a tax center in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), the queue is endless before opening. 24 hours before the deadline for paper tax returns Thursday, May 16, the vigilantes have the mission to calm the spirits. “Every morning there is at least 20, 30, 40 meters in line”, points out a resident. Taxpayers are often at a loss for the digital switchover. “It’s easier when you have someone in front of you”, says a man in the queue.

A lack of personnel

Many people take their troubles patiently without having the assurance of being received. In recent days, incidents have multiplied and unions denounce a chronic lack of personnel. The latter have until Thursday, May 16 to post their paper tax return.
