Tax fraud: Bercy adopts a special policy

A brigade of super investigators has just been created to track down top tax evaders. From Wednesday July 3, the new financial forensic investigation service has the task of flushing out major fraudsters, whether they are individuals or companies. 25 experienced investigators from the Bercy and customs services will be responsible for reducing tax fraud assessed each year between 25 and 100 billion euros.

Expanded powers

New tools will be made available to investigators. The latter will also be able to carry out searches, spinning and wiretapping. They will also carry a weapon. Until now, the investigators had to be satisfied with the tax information transmitted by the administration. In 2018, a thousand files had been sent by Bercy to justice. The Ministry of Public Accounts hopes to double this figure in the coming years.
