The deputy for La France insoumise disputes the way in which the debate around pension reform is unfolding.

“Parliamentarians are brought back to shoes, to mops”, estimated Alexis Corbière, deputy La France insoumise (LFI) of Seine-Saint-Denis, Saturday, February 8. He deplores the way in which deputies must debate the pension reform project. “We were given the impact study last Friday, a document that is 1,000 pages long. And from Monday, we’re supposed to start working. Impossible for a parliamentarian, for any of the ‘Playmobil LREM’. I’ve had enough of these people who pretend to know this document, they just don’t know it. ”

“The Council of State says that parliamentarians do not know the variables for fixing the point, that is to say that we are working blind. There is a fundraising conference that will end in April, and parliamentarians will vote in February. This is all scandalous ”, considers the chosen one.

A total of 22,000 amendments were tabled in the Assembly, including 19,000 by La France insoumise. Alexis Corbière believes that this is a way of transposing the fight from the street to the Assembly. “This great protest that exists in the country, which takes symbolic forms, must also be heard in the Assembly in a spectacular way”, continues the deputy.

“We have a counter-project. We argue on the merits, we are for a better pension system, explains Alexis Corbière. I am not in a position which consists in saying that currently the system is formidable. Too many people retire already worn out. So how do we improve all this? Let me give an example: if we only increase the wages of women ”, that makes “Nearly 5 billion additional coming from contributions”, he suggests. “Can’t we devote an additional point of GDP, or even two points, to our pension system? [14% du PIB actuellement] ? We would have a system that would allow all of us to retire at age 60. So it is a project of society against a project of society ”, concludes the deputy LFI.
