It is a drift that is beginning to weigh heavily in public accounts. Emergency accommodation in hotels has just been singled out in a report. In theory, this solution is temporary, but the reality is quite different: this accommodation can last for years. In social hotels, we find families in difficulty, accommodated here by the Samu social. A team from France 2 met one of them. A Georgian couple with a child who has lived in the hotel since 2010, pending a possible regularization. She does not pay anything. Indeed, it is the State that pays the bill.
30,000 people involved
Upstream, the organization negotiated rebates with the hotel manager. The double room goes from 65 euros to 30, assures Belaid Belharet, the manager of the establishment. A way for the boss to fill his hotel all year round. Thus, for 13 rooms, it receives nearly 15,000 euros of public money each month. And each night, the State pays a room to 30,000 people. They were only 11,000 in 2013.
