The French like to shop

For four out of five French people, shopping is not a chore. Men are more and more involved in it.

No, shopping is not a chore. Four out of five French people admit to appreciating this moment. “It’s more of a pleasure. I take a long time to choose my products, I look at what’s new, promotions etc… ”, says a consumer to France 2. Certainly, there are always refractories. For 20% of consumers, shopping time is a nightmare, and the average time spent shopping has not changed for 40 years: we still spend 2h41 per week on average.

Saturday remains the day of the races

On the other hand, men are much more inclined to indulge in it than before. The gap with women has narrowed: women spend an average of 26 minutes per day, compared to 20 minutes for men. The favorite day for shopping is still Saturday. One in two French people do their shopping at the start of the weekend, despite the late opening of stores.
